Not supported or Virtual machine issue?

Im rather new to linux and learning as I go so please excuse any possible school boy questions. My first project is to create a zoneminder machine running on Ubuntu (11.04) on my ESXi server.

I have purchased 3 cheap webcams (£1-3) in hope that one would work but non have worked yet.

I am able to get the following output from one I purchased from Tescos (093a:2620 Pixart Imaging, Inc.). I am able to get an image through Cheese and XawTV programs without issue. I have referred to the compatibility list (before anyone shoots!) and am struggling to figure out if it is compatitible or not as part of the code is present but not the other.

I hope to hear from anyone that may have experienced this issue or is able to point blank say the webcams I am using are a lost cause. Cheers!
