Low fps in high resolutions(smooth in cheese)

Post by shimi »

Hello,

We(university lab) have a couple of Microsoft Lifecams(HD-3000) and set them up in ZoneMinder as HD security cameras. In Cheese I have no problem recording 720p smooth video with them. However in ZoneMinder I am capped at about 10fps unless I decrease the resolution to 640x480 and only then get ~30fps. (cameras on different controllers, and also tried removing one just in case)

Any ideas on what might cause this and how can I increase the 720p fps? what sort of configuration I might be doing wrong? or is there something unavoidable that is causing the decrease in performance between cheese and zoneminder? (was thinking maybe the motion detection stack but it's a brand new ivy bridge rig with 16gb RAM so find that hard to believe).

Thanks.
