Zoneminder Setup
Zoneminder Setup
New to this forum. I have setup zoneminder v 1.22.3 on Ubuntu 8.04. It is connecting fine and all of my cameras are showing up. I have 4 BNC compatible cameras running on a 2 Hauppauge PCI BTTV-4 Cards. However, i am unsure of how to record from these cameras. I know there are options such as Monitor, record, morecord, modetect and nodetect. When i hit record, sometimes i see no frames recorded and it says i have a "continuous" recording. Would somebody be able to give me steps on how to record regularly and record only motion. Also, how can i edit the color coding of the motions once i record and can someone explain to me how the events output. When i record, sometimes i will see one event with 0 seconds and then a 2nd event following with frames on it. I am a bit confused as to how this works. Thanks in advance for any help.
Record motion only is modect function.
If the events page refreshes as an event is starting to be recorded in modect or mocord it might show 0 frames until the event is closed and the database is updated with the actual counts for that event. You should not see more than one instance for any given monitor/cam. If you see more than one instance for any monitor, then there might be database error in the tables.
Color for outlined events are set in the Misc. tab where you configure each camera.

"Run Mode"
One more question...Im not sure if its my version of ubuntu or my capture card. On the "Monitor" tab, i do not have the option to pick a "run mode". I understand you can pick continuous mode or triggered mode. However, this option is left out in my configuration. Is this an Ubuntu update or is my capture card not compatible.
In mocord, the event is closed when it reaches the frame count that you have set in Section Length, default is 600 frames.
In modect, the event will close when the post buffer count has expired with out any alarms being present.
Run Mode I assume you are either referring to Run States or Record Mode.
Run States you have to create to use them as there is really no feasible way to make any presets for.
Record mode is what you are setting for mocord, modect, record, etc.

just to add that a mocord monitor wont end if the monitor is in alarm... unless the force end is selected in config.cordel wrote:In mocord, the event is closed when it reaches the frame count that you have set in Section Length, default is 600 frames.

Highlighted Motion
How do you make it so that, when you have motion occuring, the motion highlights in a certain color. I know the colors have to do with the zone setup, but i think that with motion, you are able to highlight the specific motions and im unsure of how to do that.

you have to use blob detection and ensure create analysed images is checked.
