questions about kernel

Post by skyshadow »

I have a veo stingray that i want to make an attempt to get to work with zm. Everything i have read everywhere says that kernel 2.5 and up will recognize this cam. The livecd installation sees it but doesn't know which module to load for it. I have found the module on the system (ibmcam.ko.gz) and i have tried modprobe which seems to work but the hardware manager still says unknown. I have no experience with mandrake and i have searched to try to figure out what the problem is but i can't find an awnser. Any help would be appriciated

I have no experience with this camera or any other usbcam. My first guess would be to look for /dev/video0, assuming you dont already have other video devices installed. Try the TVtime icon on the desktop, or try "xawtv -c /dev/video0".

You may find useful info here:
