Re: Isn't it about time?
we SHOULD be pushing the analysis into the camera ... But not all cameras are created equal. Hence, we exist. It's great that "AI" cameras exist, assuming they are self contained, and not dependent on some questionable security/availability cloud-crap, subscription-based offsite AI for this ...

if I put secRet on the vlc bash CLI for the password, wireshark shows that secret was sent as the password, changing R to r. That is a ridiculous level of broken. Moreso than apps that get confused by $ and % in passwords .... (and they do exist, even my former ISP had a POP3/Mail l interface which ...

Re: TIMEZONE Atlantic/Canary
Or as a workaround, pick any other timezone that is also UTC+1 due to DST at the moment. Maybe Spain, or even London/UK -- although I can't guarantee the DST->UTC switch later in the year will happen on the right day! https://utctime.info/abbr/WEST/ Lots to choose from. Countries using the WEST time ...

Re: I would like to connect a usb camera to a computer outside the basic network
Hello, I would like to connect a usb camera to a computer outside the basic network. Is it possible!! THANKS Yes it is possible. Zoneminder won't "see" a USB camera connected on _another_ computer, so there will be a couple of steps to research. On the computer that's physically got the USB camera ...

Re: Ubuntu 24.04 and Zoneminder install
A month ago I received a new internet router from my internet provider. Simply connect this and follow the instructions. Nothing else. Yes. I love the simplicity of things like this. "Don't worry, it will just work!" -- and I'm never surprised to find that _something_ breaks! :) And yes, right data ...

Re: Ubuntu 24.04 and Zoneminder install
Are you doing the install as root? Do you do "sudo su" and get a prompt for a password? Any install on Linux needs to be done as root which is the administrator. Maybe that is why your commands are4 failing. "TimeoutError: [Errno 110] Connection timed out" Never mind being root (which probably does ...

Re: Ubuntu 24.04 and Zoneminder install
Sorry, but I give up. The command add-apt-repository ppa:iconnor/zoneminder-1.36 fails. It takes about 10 minutes for something to happen, and then timeout error. Then I continued This sounds like a problem with your installation method -- you cannot execute a command, have it error and fail, and ...

and "non increasing dts, fixing. our dts 54207982 stream 0 last_dts 54210997. reorder_queue_size=0" Zoneminder is trying to compensate for a broken video stream. Each frame in the video has a timestamp of when it is expected to be shown, relative to the start of the file/stream. Because time is ...

Re: Events with no EndDate, awkward lengths too
If settings are undesirable (or completely unusable) why bother even having them? An alternative question is "If this combination of settings is found to be unusable, why select them all when advised otherwise, and then wonder why stuff still doesn't work?" The settings are there for flexibility ...

Re: Can montage be an encoded stream?
Thanks. I updated the https://wiki.zoneminder.com/Ffmpeg wiki. Note the example I gave wasn't for _video_ as such, as my cameras give not-very-compliant MJPEG-in-a-HTTP-encoded-stream-of-JPEG which is horrid. I need a filter programme which strips the rubbish and passes just the JPEG stream to ...
