Post here to ask any questions about hardware suitability, configuration in ZoneMinder, or experiences. If you just want to know if something works with ZoneMinder or not, please check the Hardware Compatibility sections in the forum, and the Wiki first. Also search this topic as well.

You should also check our Wiki HCL and the HCL for your Distro.
It's always a good idea to google on the hardware your considering just to make sure it has no problems. ie. in the google search string you could do
to search our domain only for other users experiences.

And when your card does not work, realize that there are hundreds of different cards. And each one is often branded with many different names. A name, link, and picture can really help a lot. If I see a post with "I have China Special PX-1234 and it doesn't work" and that is all, I have no answer to give.

Before I try to get a camera to work on Zoneminder, I try to look at it using the Swiss Army Knife of video tools, the VLC Player. Just download the player and put the following url into the File/Open Network dialog box...
More... Look for
Confirming Camera is On Your Network
