Re: Moving from VM to Bare Metal

I know you mentioned modern but modern means money. How about an HP Z400 ex commercial Workstation. CPU cores are available in 4 & 6 and the come with as much RAM and disk as you want for a recycling company. The bare bones can be had for about £100 delivered and is a good solid HP piece of kit. It'...

Samsung SPE-400 Encoder

One to add to the list if you are migrating over from analogue to IP cameras is the Samsung SPE-400 encoder. I picked up a couple @ £30 delivered. Ubuntu Server 12.04 & ZM 1.25 package Install notes

Ello I have been running ZM for some time and then my 10.10 Desktop ran out of Ubuntu updates. So I bit the bullet and went for a server install to give better performance and the LTS which is good for 3 years updates. I also moved to a 1TB drive to cope with my increasing camera numbers and improve...

Re: How I got My Ubuntu10.04 zm setup to work

I think that's the install instructions that I used. Makes it so easy to do and as you say 15 minutes and it is done

Credit to the author who put it together !

Re: Worth updating from 1.24.2 to 1.24.4?

Well yes, I would expect the same as you. With the Ubuntu install from a repo it's so easy that you can set it up in minutes. I started by using just the package and found the Ubuntu route is so much easier. I was looking at the newer versions, but I think I will stick with what is working and not m...
