I have found this:
http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.ph ... Digitizers
Specifically this model:
http://www.aviosys.com/ip%20video%209100b.htm
I am looking for a way to get two analog cameras hooked up so they can still be used once the ZM server is moved to another location (across the road from where the current set of IP cameras reside, a fibre-optic cable is going to connect the buildings). The analog cameras are going to be added on to the system. Does anyone have experience with this hardware and using more than one camera on one of these devices?
Analog to IP conversion ...
Oh ho! Axis has solutions for this too: http://www.axis.com/products/video/video_server/
Has anyone ever used a one or four port analog to IP converter from Axis with ZoneMinder?
Why I am looking at analog to IP
The site where these cameras will be added is needing to capture data from their scale that weighs incoming/outgoing trucks and prints an invoice. They want the captured data overlaid on the video stream. The only solutions I can find for this will require customization of a capture and overlay system from a company that ONLY supplies this for analog cameras. These guys (http://www.vrxinc.com/index.html) were the only company that would talk to me about customizing for a single site in hopes of getting more in the future.

I'd be more confident that the axis would work reliably, but given the rather scary price it's not something you'd take a chance on.
If either can produce independant mjpeg streams, or even static jpg images, at a fps that you find acceptable, it *should* work fine with zm, but yes - some feedback from somebody who;s actually used one would be reassuring i expect
I do agree that these items seem to be the best solution for your problem, although it /may/ be cheaper as you have network over there to simply replace with two new IP cams.

You misunderstand. There are no analog cameras at this location as of this time. These will need to be added to the system so transaction data from the client's truck scale software (running on Microsoft XP) can be overlaid on the video. The only solution I can find that might be adaptable for them uses analog video, not digital (see the URL I provided for VRX). If you know of an easily customizable solution that will work with IP cameras please tell me where to find it.Flash_ wrote:...

Sorry. Yes, if the software only works with analogue streams you're kinda planted in analogue town. I have no experience of overlaying, nor even much with analogues so your proposed route sounds the best to me - although hopefully some of the other regulars in here will chip in with their views too.
