RTSP camera not working

Post by px03afk »

Earlier this year I bought a Foscam FI9912P and got it working OK with Zoneminder 1.37.3 - despite there being a post suggesting the rtsp and 1.37 has problems. Since then I've tried a number of the later versions of 1.37 and cannot get it to work, even though the setup is the same. There are a number of errors that appear including:

zms: Zone 7/Front for monitor Front extends outside of image dimensions, (0,160), (639,479) != (480,640), fixing
zms: Cropping altered the number of vertices! From 4 to 5
zmc: No width and height in video stream. Trying again

I realise that 1.37 is a development version but as I have it working in 1.37.3 I wonder what has changed in the later versions.

The camera isn't working, or the zones? Screenshot of zones if that's the problem?

Not a zone problem. The camera isn't working at all with 1.37.28, nor was it with 1.37.20, but it is running fine on 1.37.3 and, unless I am missing something, the configurations are the same, although the later versions present the configuration slightly differently.

Just to be clear, you can do an update from .3 to the latest master with no update errors - and this one camera quits?

The

zmc: No width and height in video stream. Trying again

Is the informative line I think. Basically it says that ffmpeg didn't get a keyframe in time. You might try setting probesize=50000 in Monitor->Source->Options, or set a larger Options->System-> WATCH_MAX_DELAY. Or both. Turn on debugging.

Mea Culpa. I was testing 1.37.28 on my backup machine where I thought I had run the new camera under 1.37.3 so to be sure I copied the database from my primary system and re-installed 1.37.3 and it didn't work. Turns out that I hadn't installed ffmpeg on the backup machine but, for some reason this didn't show up with 1.37.28, at least I didn't spot it. 1.37.3 gave me the hint very quickly and so after installing ffmpeg and then updating to 1.37.28 all is good.

Sorry to have been a nuisance.

Maybe that's something that should be verified at start-up.
As in you want to use this library? Well it's not installed, or I can't find it...
So happy new year, so far?
