Live delay

Post by chuck8530 »

Running ZM in Docker. A pair of Foscam QR4 bullet cams. My problem is there is a (about) 10 second+ delay. I'm watching live, talking to someone on the phone "Ok, I'm passing the ramp (nope) now I'm back at the fence by the dumpster (nope) turning around and leaving (nope), OK talk to you later". (5 seconds later) Image of car passing ramp ... at back of parking lot ... turning around and leaving. Is this ZM? the camera? is the camera sending the image to China and back?

When I see that, it’s from analysis backed up.
Try reducing analysis rate.
You may want to check if the cameras are calling home as well. I have a couple that want to, but I blocked them to no apparent I’ll effect.
If you have jpegs recording you can probably turn that off too.

There is inherent latency at every step. You can improve it by turning off buffering in ffmpeg but you will likely lose frames.

Most of my systems have 1-2 seconds lag.

ZoneMinder decodes and displays as fast as it can.

My NVR cams and my ESP32-cam are only a second of 2 delayed. My 2 Foscam are more like 30+ seconds behind.
Although the time stamp seems to be correct.

30 seconds is a lot. I'd be investigating further if I saw that here.
