Hello,

after migration to 1.36 the event playback is not smooth anymore.
The frames are unevenly played (sometimes faster, sometimes slower), especially when played faster (e.g. x16).

Previously installed 1.34 was working flawlessly, smooth playback even at x50 rate.

I was trying to search the solution despite many similar reported issues with choppy playback introduced in 1.36, but failed.
Is there any way to fix it, or it's just a "new feature"?

I have to agree with this problem assuming that the OP installed 1.36.26. Not only is the playback not smooth on 1.36.26, but the actual live monitor is not smooth either. I had no problems at all on 1.36.25. I only have 1 camera and plenty of memory. Running on Ubuntu 22.04.

Does it get better if you set the codec for event playback?

@Magic919 - you mean using MJPEG/MP4 switch in the playback window? Or some ffmpeg options entered 'somewhere else'?

There really isn't anything between .25 and .26 that would affect streaming.

First off we need to know how the events are being stored. What is the value of SaveJpegs and Video Writer on the Storage tab for the monitor.

Now everything is played smoothly.

Here's what I did:
1. enable camera passthrough in the Camera settings -> Storage -> Video Writer
2. I use MP4 codec in the playback window

And played back video is smooth even in x16 speed.
Even faster playback could be available (x32 or x64), but I am pleased with the smoothness anyway.

Unfortunately browsers don't support anything higher than 16x. We will have to do something entirely different to go faster.
