Single board computer hardware question

Post by david1234 »

Hello,
I have found this board in a friend house
with 256GB mini pci disk
and 4GB ram

will this computer can run zonminder better then Raspberry pi3 mode B+?
I can install on it ubunto\debian - if it's matter

or the hardware is too old - so there will be no different?

It will be better than a pi 3 due to the available ram.

ok
in the bottom line , what will I earn from this?
will the motion detection will work better?
I will be able to save motion in 10 fps and not 5 (like I have now)?
I will only use 1 ip camera and one usb (like I have now on the pi )

want to know if it's wroth the change
Thanks ,

This kind of performance, you have to test in practice. There is really no easy way to tell otherwise. Depends upon camera, FPS, resolution... Lots of factors.

ARM is typically limited.

Edit:
Also, you will get better performance with linked monitors or analysis on only the low res stream see below:
https://wiki.zoneminder.com/Dummies_Gui ... Zoneminder
fastest way to test streams:
ffmpeg -i rtsp://<user>:<pass>@<ipaddress>:554/path ./output.mp4 (if terminal only)
ffplay rtsp://<user>:<pass>@<ipaddress>:554/path (gui)
find paths on ispydb or in zm hcl
