ZM Raspbian Image available for testing

Post by iconnor »

I put together an image with ZoneMinder pre-installed. Hopefully this makes life a little easier for people wanting to run ZoneMinder on a PI.

Testers welcome....

Easy as pie? Or Pi...

Edit:

Yup...easy as pie!
I downloaded the ZM Pi image to a Windows PC and used BalenaEtcher (https://www.balena.io/etcher/) to write the image to a 32GB Micro SD card. On first boot the setup ran as expected to use the entire disk, rebooted and after a minute was ready. Accessed Zoneminder, modified the dummy monitor to use one of my web cams and it just worked! I then logged into Buster (user - pi password - raspberry), did sudo raspi-config to change the password, set the timezone, enable WIFI and SSH.
Did not see anything about changing the mariadb-server password. Am not going to worry about it as the Pi will be behind a firewall not exposed to the nasty internet.

Make sure to set your timezone in ZM/Options

OK, I am running Ubuntu 18.04 server on a Raspberry Pi 4/4 with Zoneminder 3.14 and Event server,1 Trendnet TV-IP75WIC and 4 Wyze Cams (RTSP) all working brilliantly.

Thought I would give the new Raspian/Zoneminder image a try.

The image installed with no problems, save a lot of hassel/time on that front.

Added the Trendnet using the same settings as the Ubuntu system, no problems.

Added one of the Wyze cams (RTSP) using same settings as the Ubuntu system, Not Capturing.

Specified rpi HWAccel and it works.

Cloned a second Wyze cam (Different IP), not working.

Get this Error message "Unable to open codec for video stream from rtsp://username:password@192.168.10.31/live"

Deleted the first Wyze cam and the second Wyze cam started working.

It looks as though Raspian cannot deal with more than one RTSP stream at a time.

This was on a Pi 4.

It may be that the hwaccel is causing the problem. You may have to increase gpu ram

OK that did it,

gpu_mem=512

A really easy and fast way to set up Zoneminder.
Now to try and get Event Server and Let Encrypt installed.
Thank you.
