Load issues

I've got zoneminder running on a Lenovo Thinkstation E31 with an Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E3-1225 V2 @ 3.20GHz, 4 cores and 4GB DDR3 ram. Two mirrored 1TB SATA disks in a software raid using mdadm. After upgrading zoneminder to 1.32 from 1.30 the system load went from around 1 to in some cases around 4. 15 mostly low-res cameras all doing modect. I need to figure out what caused this increase but I don't know where to start.

Same here.
Upgraded from 1.30.4 to 1.32 and all of a sudden avg Load went from ~2 to ~15 with just 4 IP Cams.
No hint.

After editing my MySQL 5.7 my.cnf the load is back to regular level for the last couple of hours, but am still monitoring.

After changing my.cnf the load went down to on average 2.5. Not great, but a lot better.
