1.28.x vlclib issue corrected in 1.29.x?

Post by AnotherBrian »

did vlc / zoneminder issues get fixed in 1.29.x?

recall vlclib was preferred for some ip cameras because bottom half of image would be blurred.
previously operational 1.28.x / vlc became inoperable sometime during the life of 1.28.x.
recommended was that users use ffmpeg but if you had the blurry bottom half image issue, you were sol.

So what is the status now - does vlclib work on 1.29.x? or is the recommendation still to use ffmpeg?

Blurry bottom half of image seemed to be most often caused by ffmpeg UDP buffer issues, they are not completely solved, but using RTP/RTSP forces TCP and alleviates the issue. And by libvlc issues do you mean the seg fault in 1.28.1? I fixed an issue due to a common function in zm and libvlc, so a namespace fixed one of the issues. That one was pretty much no libvlc monitor would work.
