send_to socket error: I think I've discovered a new reason

but can't figure out a way to get past it.
getStreamCmdResponse stream error: socket_sendto( /tmp/zm/zms-186913s.sock ) failed: No such file or directory - checkStreamForErrors()
Errors like this only pop up when I'm running zoneminder linked to an external hard drive. Everything seems to work just peachy. I'm recording events, I see the video in the monitor except I have these stupid errors filling up the log ad nauseum.
All directories and permissions seem fine. I followed the advice on the wiki here ...http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.ph ... Hard_Drive
I really hope someone can shed some light on what would other be an amazing system.
