Have successfully upgraded to 1.26.3 on Archlinux and it is performing very well. Streaming images show motion a lot smoother than on 1.25 and cpu load is lower.
It was not an easy upgrade but some of that was probably my fault due to mistakes in configure params. Would like to to let other people know that it works fine with latest version of ffmpeg (for me anyway), I spent ages trying to find version N-55540-g93f4277 which is stated as the version which works with this release to no avail. So when I had problems I kept thinking it was due to my version of ffmpeg being incorrect.
Keep up the good work in reviving this project.
ps Is anybody working on replacing the soon to be deprecated mysql_pconnect with mysqli or pdo, if not this is something I could do.

No one is working on it as far as I know. Please feel free to take it on.
