Hi,

First, make sure you are using JPEG streaming mode and not MPEG because MPEG is buggy.
Your problem may be that your browser lacks java. I think what happens is ZM thinking your browser doesn't support JPEG streaming natively and tries to load Cambozola. Cambozola is a java applet for streaming JPEGs for browsers that don't support JPEG streaming natively, such as Internet Explorer.
For cambozola to work, You need to enable cambozola in the settings and also verify that cambozola.jar is present in ZM's root folder (where index.php is)
I also recommend upgrading cambozola to latest version (replace cambozola.jar):
http://www.charliemouse.com/code/cambozola/
Here is a patch i wrote to fix ZM's auto detection to support more browsers for JPEG streaming mode, this may be useful for you because it seems you are using Safari.

If you experience bugs, here you can find fixes to some of them:

Maybe zms is crashing when trying to play an event.

Can you post some of your system log? (tail -n30 /var/log/messages for example)

looks like there's a problem with the cambozola, when i tried to browse the zm server from Blackberry, Internet Explorer and Android phones, the streaming didn't work at all.

I'm just wondering if there's something i miss on installing cambozola, coz i've download it and put it in the same directory with my zm root directory - setting up the file permission for 775, and i've checked out the cgi-bin directory (make sure it's where it should be and the file permission)

Try downloading the cambozola file, does it let you download it, or give you an error such 403 forbidden?
If your ZM's path is http://your-address/index.php, cambozola should be http://your-address/cambozola.jar
It does not need to be in cgi-bin folder.

If you suspect the problem is cambozola, you can set in options CAN_STREAM to "yes", this disables ZM's auto detection and tells ZM to use native jpeg streaming for all browsers, even for IE.

yes, i've tried to download combozola from my ip and it can downloaded....

i've verify that cambozola is running - when i tried to montage view on IE, it ask me whether i should trust the java applet from charliemouse.
the problem is :
- i still can't get event preview from any browser (in IE it's even worse - i can't view the liveview from 1 camera)
- the blackberry and android browser still can't get live view (it just preview the first frame - you have to refresh it for the view) either (but the live view works on iPhone's Safari)

I am seeing that SQL error as well after upgrading from 1.22.3.

select Events.Id as Id, MonitorId, Name, Cause, StartTime, date_format( StartTime, '%y/%m/%d %H:%i:%S' ) as StartTimeShort, EndTime, Width, Height, Length, Frames, AlarmFrames, TotScore, AvgScore, MaxScore, Archived, Videoed, Uploaded, Emailed, Messaged, Executed, Notes, min(Frames.FrameId) as MinFrameId, max(Frames.FrameId) as MaxFrameId, min(Frames.Delta) as MinFrameDelta, max(Frames.Delta) as MaxFrameDelta from Events left join Frames on Events.Id = Frames.EventId where Events.Id = undefined group by Frames.EventId limit 1

[Sat Jan 15 23:11:46 2011] [error] [client 212.16.106.53] SQL-ERROR(36BD54): Unknown column 'undefined' in 'where clause',

Did you find a solution for it?

update: ok, happens only in google chrome. firefox works well.
