Reduce Memory consumption

Dear All,

How can I reduce the memory consumption of camera like other commercial software in Zoneminder. Approximately I have 25-39 cameras in one location which upon my testing Zoneminder is crashing signal due to lack of memory.

Use fewer cameras. Use lower resolution. Use lower frame rates and shorter circular buffers (pre-roll/pre-event buffer).

I don't think you can "beat the system". It takes as much memory as it takes, for the load you have chosen to create.

Maybe split the cameras up into 2/3 zones across more than one computer,all running Zoneminder?

Under Options > Images, maybe you could try reducing JPEG_FILE_QUALITY and/or JPEG_ALARM_FILE_QUALITY? JPEG_FILE_QUALITY will set the compression percentage for non-alarmed frames which will probably be the bulk of your recording. I'm new to this too, but found that changing these two parameters help me squeeze out a little better memory consumption.
