Hey guys,
I just wanted to share an idea of an alternative usage for ZoneMinder today. In theory, I think it would be possible to create a foot traffic counter/people counter using ZoneMinder. If so, this could open up to a larger market for ZoneMinder.

The issue is not how to use ZoneMinder as people counter - even is not necessary to update the source code - you can integrate it via DB in order to catch the events and to analyze the images.
The real issue is proper people detector. Yes, you can use OpenCV and here the difficult is coming - to create clever people detection algorithm. OpenCV provide an example but is not accurate. It require a lot of "teaching". Probably this is the reason an open source software to not exist.
