Skin: Modern fork. Multi-camera playback, improved UI, etc

If you've made a patch to quick fix a bug or to add a new feature not yet in the main tree then post it here so others can try it out.

Skin: Modern fork. Multi-camera playback, improved UI, etc

Post by kvarley »

Hello there, just a quick post to detail the ZoneMinder skin I've been working on for the past few months. The skin is far from finished but provides quite a nice experience compared to the "classic" ZoneMinder skin. Please feel free to download the skin and test it on your system - any feedback would be much appreciated.

FEATURES
  • Improved UI
  • Separation of playback and admin functions
  • No plugins needed - just a decent browser
  • HTML5 valid
  • Preset camera selection (saves a default preset per user)
  • Playback across multiple cameras simultaneously
  • Timeline of events
  • All admin functions accessible (some drop back to classic skin in a lightbox window)
LIMITATIONS
  • No ability to export multiple events at once
  • Playback fixed to 5 FPS
FUTURE IMPROVEMENTS
  • Exporting of multiple events
  • Exporting to video files
  • Playback of videos (rather than the frames ZoneMinder currently stores)
  • Ability to change the playback FPS
  • Support for variable FPS playback where an FPS limit isn't set
  • Drag and drop UI
  • Improve responsiveness of skin (optimization for mobile devices)
  • Support different bandwidth qualities

Can't play with this right at the moment but I have a question. I have some HiDef cameras (1920x1080) that also have a lowdef stream (320x176). I do motion detection on the lowdef stream and any events get recorded by both streams. When I look at the montage the HiDef fills up the window and the lowdef is tiny. I'd like to be able to display the montage at 1/2 or 3/4 scale on the HiDef monitors, and 1.5 or 2.0 on the lowdef. Any chance that is possible?

The default montage has a scale setting for the whole montage, I'd like to be able to set scaling per camera in the montage. If that's even possible.

Is this project still viable? It would be great to try multiple monitor playback with the current version of zoneminder.
