ipcam doesn't work!

Post by ottaviane »

Hi,
I think it's zoneminder doesn't work.
I installed a ipcam and I can view this with
a browser using those url:

user:pwd@ipcam01:81/videostream.cgi
or user:pwd@192.168.1.201:81/videostream.cgi

.......................................
when I create a monitor in ZM:

source type: remote
function: monitor
prot: http
remote mode: simple
host name: usr:pwd@192.168.1.201 (or usr:pwd@ipcam01 or usr:pwd@ciccio.homepc.it .......)
port:81
path: videostream.cgi
ecc.ecc.ecc.

it doesn't work!
in the main page of zoneminder under the tab "Source" the colour link is red.
why?
in firefox and chrome the url is working!
in the log page I can't read anything.
where I can read a log more complete?
thanks.

could be a shared mem issue, what res are you trying to run at

I try with 640x480 res and with 320x240 res.
I don't understand why in mozilla it works
but in ZM no.
thanks

should be ok at 320 res. you are setting the cam to that res as well as zm? 640x480 in colour will often be too much for normal shared mem setups

Can you try adding the leading slash to the path.

I tryed also "/videostream.cgi" in the path field, but it still doesn't work!
I tryed also "/videostream.cgi?user=uuu&pwd=xxx", still nothing!
It seems firewalled. Has ZM a setting that could firewall some ports or ip ?
In the browser, cameras aren't firewalled. they works very well!
bye

ZM isn't any kind of firewall. Do you have any firewall/iptables on your Linux box?

A red link suggests your server cannot resolve the address of the camera. That's the only way I can reproduce the problem.

Can you screen grab the source config and post it up?

I dont think it's a problem of iptables on my linux box.
I installed ZM in another PC. The problem is the same.
I'd like to know what is the module alloewd to link ipcams.
I think that there is a way to read a log made by this module.
If I could read this log, I'll be able to resolve it.
bye.

You should have some logging and can configure that in ZM in any case. Mine logs to a file and also show this in the webui.

I'd expect some FAT errors in the log. Component it will likely show up against is zmc. You can check the monitor number in the Source config and just log some debug for that , i.e. zmc_m3.

May you make some examples please?
How can I check monitor number?
what is zmc_m3?
Thanks. bye. :D
