Adjusting Motion Detection Settings

Post by mdedmon »

Hi,
I'm running Zoneminder 1.24.4.

Everything seems to be working correctly, but I have a couple of questions.

1) When I set the function of a monitor to "Modect", the camera in the area detects motion, but it only records 2 to 5 seconds of images. If I walk around the room for 5 minutes, I want it to continue to record until it doesn't detect motion any longer. Is there a way to adjust the settings so that works. If so, where do you modify the settings for Modect?

2) I prefer using the "Mocord", but after detecting motion it records for a fixed 5 minutes. I managed to find the setting that lets you adjust that 600 second length, but I'd rather it just stop recording when motion stops. Is this possible, and if so, how do you configure this option?

I appreciate any input or suggestions.
Thanks, Mike

use modect mode. and set the EVENT_CLOSE_MODE option (general, not monitor specific) to IDLE mode. so it only stops recording if there is no motion.
Default is on IDLE mode ..so probably there is movement on your camera view zone outside the modect zone. Zoneminder compairs images and calculate the divergence between them. if that is to less..it stops. you can alter the image BLEND option in the monitor (set it lower) and also look at he the alarm score. if it's to low..set your zone filter more "fast" so it triggers faster to an alarmed state.
Zoneminder @Ubuntu 11 server, ZM 1.25.0 , FFMPEG, 4 Analoge cameras, 1.6ghz P4mobile, 2GB ram, 60GB-HDD.
I also have an (homeseer) domotica system up-and-running with touchscreens, light controllers, weather forecast etc.
