how to setup BT878 cctv card? Can anybody help please?

Post by capetownlad »

I now have this working - thanks to all for trying to help.

Hi
Another newbie here. I have a SAA7134 DVB-S TV card which works great with Kaffeine. My problem is getting the BT878 CCTV card to display any images even in Xawtv! While following various ideas, it did briefly work in Xawtv but can't do it again. Naturally, I don't get any images in ZM. I really am not experienced enough to know what bits of information you would need to see in order to help so please just ask. Here are some bits..

This may sound goofy, but I've come across another post that suggests it's correct. Briefly set the input channel to PAL and then back to NTSC. This seemed to get my BT878 going...

Hi Sorry for the delay but it didn't get notified. Anyway, thanks for the idea and tried it but no change. I have uninstalled all nVidia drivers and it works in Xawtv. I cant leave it like that cause the fan on the nVidia card keeps spinning and when I install the drivers again, it wont work again. So guess its driver related but I dont know what to do about it.

Hi

Have you tried looking here and creating a file in your /etc/modprobe.d?

If you know you have a good compile on your version of OS, then I would suggest using the search and searching for either
your exact card type, or 878A or BT878, or some combination there of. Make sure on the search page that you select the
"ZoneMinder 1.25.x" (or your version) in the "Search in forums" field, otherwise your search results will not return much.

It might just be your settings, there are a ton of them, and they are all tailored for the type of camera and card.
Here are a couple thread that I posted to with some setting to specific to my environment, your mileage will vary....

Search is your friend and good luck.

As for the reply check "User Control Panel" --> "Manage Subscriptions" to make sure this thread is in the list, or click on "Subscribe Topic" (upper right sidebar) when your are in a thread you want to monitor.
Best Regards
