It's occurred to me that a wireless rolling camera should be able to somehow weave enough images from it's travels to come up with a navigable, accurate image. Mapping an entire floor into 3d space would be sweet. It sounds feasible, at least, since you should be able to measure distance by speed/odometer, and knowing the focal length of the camera get accurate sizing.
Has anyone tried to create something like this, or does something like this exist? It'd be great for a million things, and could allow google maps to include the insides of buildings (like my museum).
If not, can someone please create it? I'd even buy a copy.
