Source text on main screen turns orange

Hi,

I'm running the 1.22.3 LiveCD on a 2.2GHz Core2 Duo system with 2GB RAM and a Kodicom 8800 with 4 cameras set up. I can view all the video feeds fine, but Modect only works on two cameras.

I've put the same settings in to each source. I find that if i reduce the image buffer in one of the sources, the Source text on the main zm screen turns green again, but Modect doesn't work (nothing is picked up) and Force Alarm does not appear when i watch the stream.

Interestingly when i lower the image buffer on another particular camera, both the source text for that camera and the first camera turn orange.

I'm probably using all the wrong settings for the cameras - does anyone else have a similar setup? What settings do you use?

I get buffer overrun errors in the system log. If I increase the image buffer (is that the 'ring buffer'?), the source text turns orange.

zm reports load at 0.55, disk at 90%. The load averages are 0.22, 0.44, 0.46.

I'm not sure what info to include, so i'll just paste some info in the next message!

Camera 4 has been disconnected temporarily.. it doesn't modect either.

If the image buffer is too small, modect tends to start too late - the person appears in the middle of the frame.

What about a simpler question.. what does it mean when the source text turns orange?

just means the chip is in use. But not recording.
So if you using chip 0 twice then ot is in use

Hmm... why would channel 1 be orange and channel 2 be green, if both are idle?

orange means it has issues, can be expected if sharing a chip, but as your having under run issues the prage is showing you do have a problem

Ah ok... is the ring buffer the same as the image buffer for each channel?
Increasing the image buffer for each channel will make it turn orange.

When I do a refresh on the console, the text turns orange again.

Am I running out of some sort of resource?

I'm still having that problem..
How can i fix the buffer underrun? I've tried increasing the ring buffer (image buffer?).. the source line just turns red.

i bought a cheapo 8800 and if i try to use more than 3 channels it puts noise on the image making detection impossible. To test the card try using record on all channels and see how that goes. Then once we have a successful test of 5 channels recorded then chnage 1 to modect, then put that back to modect and try another. etc

Thats what id do to start with

Someone broke in to the building last night.. only got footage off one camera.. shucks. Now I really have to get it working fully :(

It works fine when i set all 8 channels (4 channels have no cams at the moment so it records blue) to record.

Changing channels 1 and 5 to modect (while all other channels are set to Record) makes that line turn orange after i refresh the browser.

Changing any of the other channels seems to work fine. Channels 6, 7, and 8 have the default buffer settings.

I haven't changed either file, they're whatever gets installed by the liveCD. There's no options file in /etc/modprobe.d either.

The box has 2GB of RAM, top reports about 55MB free. It's a Core2 Duo 2.13GHz. The motherboard uses either the i945 or i965 chipset... i can check for sure if necessary!
