How to edit modprobe.conf

Post by mbill »

I have a cheap 4 channel bttv card and want to add the following line to my modprobe.conf file "options bttv card=77".

The problem is i can not figure out how to edit it. I cannot get to it in terminal mode and if i use file manager i am told it is a read only file.

As a user that has permission to edit the file.... ie root
vi /etc/modprobe.conf

You might look at the links towards the bottom of this post for basic Linux tutorials.
