Hello, I just set up ZM and the log in doesn't accept whatever the username is (unsure?) and the correct password I setup with ZM_OPT_USE_AUTH. The webpage surprisingly shows no option 'Forgot your password' to reset credentials. I haven't forgotten the password, but after setting up ZM_OPT_USE_AUTH, I'm unclear what the username is, although I have tried several usernames, all which have failed.
Fixed with default username admin and password admin. I'm curious though:
Q1: what the password I entered for ZM_OPT_USE_AUTH is for?
Q2: how to change the default credentials?
ZM v1.36.33 login has no reset password?
Re: ZM v1.36.33 login has no reset password?
Solved, thanks to https://github.com/ZoneMinder/ZoneMinde ... tarted.rst.
I suggest the ZM wiki setup guide update with clearer info, to avoid future frustration and countless hours lost:
I suggest the ZM wiki setup guide update with clearer info, to avoid future frustration and countless hours lost:
- https://sgzoneminder.readthedocs.io/en/ ... arted.html enables authentication, but doesn't follow through with setting up login credentials, misleading and obfuscatory.
- https://wiki.zoneminder.com/Debian_12_B ... er_1.36.33 I followed this and would be easier with how to access zm via browser (192.168.1.xxx/zm) and login setup.
- https://wiki.zoneminder.com/Dummies_Guide nothing about login.
- https://wiki.zoneminder.com/How_To Administration guide is messy and confusing for a noob.
- https://zoneminder.readthedocs.io/en/st ... index.html nothing about login.

sgzoneminder.readthedocs.io is generated from someone else's fork and hasn't been updated in years.
zoneminder.readthedocs.io is our docs, and has a nice getting getting started section:
