back to ZM after some time

Post by RyGy7 »

I had ZM 1.29 for awhile but then lost the HDD (no backup) so i just didn't get around to rebuilding and configuring till this week. Started from scratch.
followed
https://zoneminder.readthedocs.io/en/1. ... untu-16-04

Ubuntu server 16
Zoneminder 1.36.19
camera's are admintingly old but did work fine on 1.29 foscam and amcrest

basics.
source tyep = remote
source http / method simple
hostname = IP address
port = well the :port
path = rtsp://name:passowrd@xx.xx.xx.xx:zzzz/videoMain

res same as what works via direct web http://xx.xx.xx.xx:zzzz

what more am i doing wrong that i get "capturing" but no live video stream? neither preview nor when i open monitor.

thoughts? and thanks...

Just curious, any reason you used an older version of Ubuntu? It runs fine on 22.04.

I dunno if this is the answer or not, but..

I was running Ubuntu 16 myself, I couldn't get the latest ZM to work right after I upgraded. I fought it for awhile and ultimately decided I probably had some bad config, and upgrading to latest ubuntu was probably a good idea anyways. I did a reinstall (not upgrade) and everything worked fine. I'm guessing either there is something lagging in the 16 repo, or some config stuck around causing problems.
