Storage Location Change

Post by BigKuma »

Using v1.37.10 , so posting in this forum.

Before I started reading on the subject (Storage changing tutorials, SystemD, etc). I naively thought that all I have to do is go into WebUI, Options -> Storage, delete the previous entry (/var/cache/zoneminder/...) and add my new one.

It was close! I think the docs need to be updated, and maybe a little popup when Storage is modified. In addition, each individual Monitor needs to be moved from "default" to "YourNewStorageName" in Storage->Storage Area. Otherwise, the Monitors keep using the original install location (which is no longer listed in the WebUI)

But, it's great that I can do some of it from WebUI, instead of command line!

Thanks!

Yeah.
Last I tried, you could add new, change the monitors. And it still knows where to find the original records. Pretty nice.

Maybe I should have edited the default instead of deleting it ?

If it was an actual new storage, I'd have added the new, moved the cam pointer(s), leave it for a month, then delete the old.
