How to: disable camera/keep profile/stop errors in log

I want to disable a camera: various reasons. Use elsewhere; test other software; swap cameras.

If the camera function is set is 'None', why does Zoneminder still work so hard to throw errors?

If I delete the camera, then I lose all the zone/event/info/etc that took so long to set up correctly.

How to make Zoneminder ignore a camera?

What kind of errors?
I have a couple I use to experiment, but the only indication I have that they're there is the the console shows 12.5% Not Running when set to none.
