Display Lorex D841A6 DVR feeds in ZoneMinder

Post by linuxnutt »

Hello,
Trying to take the video feeds from a Lorex DVR (Model D841A6) and view them from ZoneMinder. I'm able to view in VLC the DVR camera outputs using this syntax: rtsp://admin:admin password@192.168.1.104/cam/realmonitor?channel=1&subtype=0, but when I try to set this up in ZoneMinder I get a blue screen. So I'm hoping I can get some help to view the DVR camera connections from this DVR in ZoneMinder. I'm of course able to use Windows 10 and IE and see individual camera outputs from the DVR.

So let me tell you more about my setup. I'm using ZomeMinder 1.30.4 (I know need to update to new version) on Linux Mint 18 Sarah. I have 6 IP cameras running very happily on this system for quite some time now. The Lorex DVR system has 16 CCTV ports, but I'm only using 8 CVI 4K Ultra HD Model C881DA-Z (Non-IP cameras). Lorex Cameras and DVR https://www.lorextechnology.com/hd-dvr- ... 4KAD88-1-p . I've realized that the cameras and DVR are using Lorex P2P technology which I feel is unacceptable from a security standpoint, so I'm trying to do a work around using ZoneMinder, and ZMNinja.

Anyway here is my system info using "inxi -Fxz":
$ inxi -Fxz

If it works in VLC, try source type: libVLC.

Blue screen sometimes means resolution is wrong. Check resolution in vlc. You can also try ffmpeg (which outputs resolution info).
fastest way to test streams:
ffmpeg -i rtsp://<user>:<pass>@<ipaddress>:554/path ./output.mp4 (if terminal only)
ffplay rtsp://<user>:<pass>@<ipaddress>:554/path (gui)
find paths on ispydb or in zm hcl
