Wansview W3 camera fresh install ZM 1.32

Post by icartmanxx »

The Linux box I had been running ZM on finally bit the dust and I needed to set up a new one. I bought a micro PC online and installed Ubuntu 18.04 server (with LAMP) and then followed the instructions here (https://wiki.zoneminder.com/Ubuntu_Serv ... e_easy_way) to install ZM 1.32.

I will admit it has been a couple of years since I set this camera up and am a bit rusty in the whole ZM realm. I was able to get the server up and running and can access the ZM console on the new server. Thankfully I made notes of the settings I made within ZM when I added the camera last time and have duplicated those settings. Unfortunately the Source link is red on the Console page and when I click on the camera name I get a white browser window with no capture frame. When I check the logs tab I see the following errors:

2019-12-03 21:45:14 zmdc 937 ERR 'zmc -m 1' exited abnormally, exit status 255 zmdc.pl

2019-12-03 21:45:11 zmc_m1 9545 INF Starting Capture version 1.32.3 zmc.cpp

The ZM script didn't seem to kick any errors when I installed it but I assume there is something missing here. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Looks like remote can't parse the stream. Try ffmpeg, or libvlc source types, or a different path.

Try Onvif, and the camera web portal - there might be multiple streams.

Some cameras can offer mjpeg, and rtsp streams. Others offer only rtsp streams.

I can successfully connect to the camera using VLC and the same RSTP settings I have set in ZM, so the camera is streaming properly and the ZM config for the camera looks OK. I am wondering if it has something to do with the ZM install itself....perhaps a config file is bad? I seem to recall on my previous install I had to update the zm.conf file path for PATH_ZMS to get things working. Just not sure what it should be in the new version.

Based on the logs it looks like zmc is having issues reading the stream. Do you have another camera you can test? This would rule out a faulty install.

Used cameras can be bought for cheap. Get an old axis, which is almost guaranteed to work, and use that to prove zm is installed correctly. Then try tweaking values on the camera or on zm.
