SOLVED - live works - playback not

Since a few days I'm struggling with my setup.
While the live stream is working, the event playback logs the following errors.

I've seen some people having similar issues, tried altering PATH_ZMS, did not help (things got worse).

Running Ubuntu 16.04.3 with apache.

This is, I think, a bug in the SQL code; I believe there's a thread running on it elsewhere; it has to do with monitor grouping.

What install instructions did you use? :With MySQL there are config file changes you need to make. Same with Mariadb.

Damn,
somehow my.cnf wasn't saved after I added sql_mode = NO_ENGINE_SUBSTITUTION
