I cant find the way to change in zm4linux the initial 4way camera startup view to, for example a 9camera view or 16 cameras, I want it to be automatic.

Thanks

Things that caused me trouble.

Login with admin admin
Make sure you have a user with stream for the name and password on the server
Under settings and monitor, put the ip address in only, make sure URL is NOT checked
Finally, make sure you have a colon : before the port

I hope this helps someone.

Is there a post with instructions on how to use ZM4MS? 46 pages is a bit to search through and it starts several years back with the older versions.

It would be useful to post a link on the first post if there is something which says how to setup ZM4MS.

EDIT: OK, I was a moron. I wasn't changing the usernames correctly. I found the bit on the first page at the bottom below the screenshots. As a suggestion, you might move those brief instructions to the top above the images. The funny thing is that I read about 30 pages before I saw reference to the instructions on the first page.

I do have one question which I don't think has been asked.

Is there a way to run this in Linux? I'm building up some cheap video walls for camera display and need a lightweight, secure, OS other than windows which runs on old machines.

Here's another question. I want to move my viewer setup to another computer, but I can't find a settings file anywhere. Is there a .ini file or a registry entry I can copy to a new system to move settings to a new system?

Hi, first thank you James for your extraordinary Viewer.

I can set up it with out problems through Zoneminder but I can't set up an external camera (Axis 207), I what to connect this external camera directly to the Viewer.
I have the same user and pass in the camera and in the Viewer.

I tried:

IP/URL : user:pass@192.168.1.200
PORT: 80
SITE-NAMES enable: /axis-cgi/jpg/image.cgi?resolution=640x480 [checked]
*URL: [checked]

and also a lot of combinations with http:// and bla,bla,bla..

No luck.

Could you help me?

Thanks.

J.

I've been using the live viewer with a custom layout, 16 cameras around the outside with a cycle view in the center. It takes a while to set it up on various computers. Is there a way to save the settings to a file which I can reload on a new computer?

Here is how I have mine set up. The default login is admin, password admin.

Click setup, the tools looking icon.
Monitors Tab: type in the IP and monitor number. For the number, go to the zoneminder web console, mouse over (or open) the monitor name. Read the link. The mid=1 is monitor id 1. Put that in the MON field. Type in a description if you want. It should look like:

Code: Select all

http://rx2-zone/index.php?view=monitor&mid=1
Refresh Rates and Views Tab: Click the check boxes for the buttons you want for the number of cameras to display.
Users Tab: This is key, your users here should match the users you have in Zoneminder. Make sure that the user you want to use is in zoneminder also.

Yes, that works!

But i want to use ZM4m just as a viewer with out zoneMinder:

eg. myCamera ------> ZM4m_Viewer

Is it possible?

I want to do this because when I use in the middle zoneMinder the monitors
in ZM4m are not in real time.

This is my actual wrong configuration

I actually read all 46 pages of this post and I did see somewhere here that others have done this. You need the IP to be the IP and then the path to be everything after the /.

As for the login I am not sure, I would assume it needs to match the user info in ZM. If it uses standard http://user:pass@ipaddress/path/to/image format you might be able to use the user:pass@ipaddress, but again I am not sure.

I am still fighting with this, first correct step

in the IP/URL must be the IP address with this format:

http://user:pass@192.168.1.100

and in PORT

just, 80

with this format I can see transfering of packets but the camera reply with packets like this:

Your browser has JavaScript turned off..... blaaaaa

Fknnn cam. :D

Ok now is working, the thing was that the Viewer don't authenticate when send the http packet.

I create in my camera a login without auth and I puted just this in IP/URL

http://ipaddress/mypaht_to_image

PORT 80

nothing else but still with problems, I am receiving errors like this:

A)
PROGRAM SETTINGS: Conversion from string ::to type 'Integer' is not valid

B)

DUAL HEAD:
Conversion form string"" to type 'Integer' is not valid

Other thing:

The image are slow I thought it will be similar quality as in firefox.

The speed is adjusted on the Refresh Rates and Views tab in settings.

Take a look at the Misc section for the dual head settings, possibly something other than a number in there?

As for program settings, I'd check the option boxes in all fields looking for something expects a number, but has text in it.
