As I understand it (and I def could be wrong!) the reference image used for determining alarms is based on the last N frames from when the motion detection is started and this is the same image used throughout the remainder of the analysis.
It would be cool to have dynamic reference image so that shadows, changing lighting, etc can be accounted for. A new reference image could be created and used when the picture is unchanged for X number of seconds.
