problem - errors on disk?

Post by RhettNyeDotOrg »

I'm anxious to get started here but the first time I tried to install on a freshly recycled old P2 350, My install failed with this in the Kernel log:

<3>Buffer I/O error on device hdc, logical block 314648
<4>hdc: media error (bad sector): status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
<4>hdc: media error (bad sector): error=0x34 { AbortedCommand LastFailedSense=0x03}
<4>ide: failed opcode was: unkown
<4>Eend_request: I/O error, dev hdc, sector 1258596
repeated multipe times, eg for 12585(72,76,80)

This repeated a bunch of times, all very similar errors. My MD5 sum on the CD-ROM passed. I kind of think it's the CD-ROM that's toasting me. Can anyone confirm?

Thanks

hdc

Post by RhettNyeDotOrg »

HDC is CD-ROM, yes.

I abandoned the Mandriva install disk and went straight to Debian. Debian installed on my machine OK, and I found a great forum post (yet another debian install how-to)

Now i just have to get the FAQ read and understood and I'll be ready to rock. Thanks anyways!

Thx, Im now @ 98.7% and have been for a wile now...
i have quite a few www servers that i own, most are on a 10Mbps
or above internet connection, as soon as i get this ISO and as long
as i have the permission of rdmelin i will host it on 1 or more of my
servers and then post the URL of the file.

itz just that last tiny little bit that is stopping me :( ....
plz any1 i just need the smalles amount, just an hour or ur time
as a seed would do it, then i will seed the file, until the next version
is out, then i will seed that 1, and so on....

:D

Yay...
now all i have 2 do is wait....

Thanx James...

As soon as i get this new version i can start working on my 2 new
ideas i have,

the 1st is ANPR, i think i can get this workin... I have had some succsess
with ZM and ANPR and am just waitin for some new hardware from eBay
and this New Ver of the CD and i will continue working on it,
I will post if i am succsessful...

The 2nd idea is to have a monitor mode camera change 2 a modect mode
@ a predefinded time and them back again...
so i could have it as 'Monitor' during the working day, and 'modect' after
hours...
(this one should b easy...)

The second idea is already possible by using 'run states' and a quick cron job or other script. I will be adding a scheduler function at some point ot make this easier.

I would be interested to see how you get on with ANPR, perhaps you could create a Wiki page to track your progress.

Hi Bosskong !

I get the same problem, and the problem was a missing module for PHP -> apache-mod_php. Just install it and this run perfectly !
Reboot your machine to be sure that everything is loaded correctly.

Oliver

If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster.

Any ideas on what I need to do? The /var/www/html/zm directory has a bunch of zm files in it, but no index.html. It does have an index.php link that points to zm.php. Any ideas?

Seeders?

Post by goatcatcher »

Any seeders out there for the torrent?

I can't seed afterwards but am happy to host the disk image for a while (depending on what demand turns out to be!).

Thanks guys, it's chugging along nicely now.

That's the one I'm downloading (I hope!) but couldn't find a thread for it on its own.

rdmelin - are you happy for me to host this somewhere and post the location back to the forum? I've got some bandwidth GBs that I'm not using to their full potential at the moment...
