Provided that your network camera is supported by ZoneMinder, this is possible. Keep in mind that, if you have two NICs, you will only be plugging in one (maybe two) cameras. One NIC for a camera, one NIC for your Internet connection.

What you will need is an ethernet crossover cable, which "is a type of Ethernet cable used to connect computing devices together directly where they would normally be connected via a network switch, hub or router, such as directly connecting two personal computers via their network adapters."

Once you actually have the camera connected directly to your computer, you will need to assign the camera an IP address. Most cameras use DHCP by default, so I'd recommend installing a DHCP server on your computer.

After the camera has an IP address, you just add it to ZoneMinder as a monitor like you would any other camera.
