can't find framebuffer base address

Please help.
I am able to use the manual configuration to enter the address. What file do I edit
to make this happen on boot. I edited /etc/modprobe.d/capturecards.conf and
placed the "v4l-conf -a 0xF45FE000" in it but it did not work. That probably wasn't
the right file.
I am running UBUNTU 8.10 If you need additional info let me know. Below is
the warning message I am getting whe I start xawtv.

WARNING: No DGA direct video mode for this display.
WARNING: couldn't find framebuffer base address, try manual
configuration ("v4l-conf -a <addr>")
v4l2: WARNING: framebuffer base address mismatch
v4l2: me=(nil) v4l=(nil)

I will help you help yourself. Search this forum for the keywords "xawtv nvidia and dga" and you will solve one problem.

As to the other, Ubuntu changed a lot in 8.10 in regards to modprobe. I am still trying to figure it out. You might try going back to Gutsy. That works very well.
