openSuSE 10.3 - No Images - Daemon Start Failed
Posted: Sun Nov 11, 2007 11:00 pm
Hello, all. i am new here, and baby-fresh to ZM, as well as LAMP. (I've used Linux exclusively for 6 months.) I have read the FAQ, most of the instruction manual up to the point I've reached, and searched the forums and web like crazy. I have not been able to solve the issue, but hopefully I've been able to find out what info I need to provide you.
I am using openSUSE 10.3, and a logitech quickcam express (usb).
I installed ZM v1.22.3-20 via YaST. I followed the instructions here:
http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.ph ... s_for_SuSE
I did add the pacman repos, and selected the mp version, though YaST said it was pulling from the liquid-co repo (which is not supposed to caontain the mp version - - but that is probably beside the point)
I ran through the setup of apache, mysql, and zm described on the page above, and all went fine. No errors.
When I go to localhost/zm, I have the interface, and is says running at the top. But when I click on the monitor I added, there is no image. (My webcam does work in kopete.)
So I began troubleshooting, and the first thing I did was this:
So the daemon is failing to start.
I searched the forums, and found a user request the following command and output, so here's mine:
This post is rather long already, and I don't want to provide anything unnecessary, so please let me know what, if any, logs you would like.. or any other info. You would have to explain it to me in pretty simple terms. I am fairly comfortable with linux, though I am relatively new to SuSE, but when it comes to (L)AMP and ZM, I haven't a clue.
Thanks for your time.
