Just getting ZoneMinder running and learning the processes and settings...
When I set a camera up in Monitoring mode, on the main Console screen, it says monitoring, but also says Capturing and the FPS....is it recording to the HDD? I thought Monitoring was only to view the camera, not actually recording anything....

"Capturing" just means it's acquiring images from the camera (locally or across the network), and the FPS is to show how fast this is happening.
It doesn't necessarily mean anything is being recorded, or even motion-detected/alarms generated, depending on your other settings.
Just looking at the live view requires "capturing" to happen, otherwise, no picture.
