Help with File source type

I'm fairly new to ZoneMinder. I have gotten it up and running for a couple of weeks now. Everything seems to be working well, so I'm trying to tune the detection algorithms. I would like to use the file source type so I can replay specific streams to determine the optimal settings. Can someone give me some pointers on how to use this mode? Specifically, I'm looking for information on what file types are supported, how to specify the source location and how to get zoneminder to process to file stream.

File type only works on jpeg I think.

What you might want to do is use ffmpeg input type and use a file:// url in the source.

The source type "file" is apperently not working, but this works for me as well, but now I just got spammed by this in the logs.
