Upgrading from 1.30.4 with APT

Post by dagadog »

Hi Chaps.

I'm running Ubuntu Server 18.04, and have had ZM 1.30.4 since April, installed from a package downloaded with instructions from the 1.30.x forum. Since then I've been happily waiting for the PPA to be updated, without realising 1.32 had been released (duh!)

would the best way to upgrade be to add the 1.32 PPA and sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade, or does this cause issues?

Providing more detail, I am using the stock versions of MariaDB and Apache2

In a word, yes.

But, make backups. Especially your database!

And be advised that there is no going back as the install packages for 1.30.4 have been taken off line. My recommendation is to set up 1.32.2 on a spare machine or a test VM. See if it works for you before you upgrade your production machine!
