Audio and ffmpeg vs libvlc

Post by geraldbrandt »

I have two cameras that can supply audio to Zoneminder, a DCS-935L and a DCS-960L.

- When I configure with ffmpeg and audio on, my framerate drops to < 2 FPS (set for 10 FPS), and the camera disconnects from Zoneminder a lot. With audio off, I get a steady 10FPS and no disconnects.
- When I configure with libvlc and audio on, my framerate is consistant 10 FPS, and I get no Zoneminder disconnects.

Any ideas? I'm looking for a firmware upgrade to the cameras now.

Look in your logs. Turn debug on. The answers will be there.

Audio packets can stress certain things. Audio is generally uncompressed and throws a ton of packets at ZM.

Also, there are cases where ffmpeg doesn't do the right thing and various settings aren't setup right and writing the .mp4 fails.

No one will be able to help you without the contents of your logs. We are not psychic.
