Hi! My name is tomas and im new to VMS. Im planning to upgrade a analogue camera system and plan to expand to have more ip cameras (the analogue in a future will become ip) total final camera will be around 90. im planing to buy a server, ill attach a the server specs. Do you think it will handle the load? Another extra thing is that im planing to deploy an asterisk server with 100 + phones. can it handle all this load? Network will be deployed with fiber. We need to know what resolution and fps you plan on setting your cameras to. Memory will be the biggest concern but you maybe alright depending on what you have decided for resolutions. Are you planning on recording motion only or just straight on going recording 24/7?

Cameras will be of 1m, maybe 2m. Planning to record mostly motion detection at 10fps. Some cameras maybe 10 will have continues recording and motion detection (like 9 to 6 continues and after hours just motion detection)

You didn't ask but, these cheap onvif units work really well for converting analog cameras. IF your converting a lot it might be worth a look.

They seam to be multiplex 2 to 1 so if you use all inputs you get around 10-15fps but you can run em at a full 30/25 if you use half the inputs. Also dosen't need a hardisk it just functions as a analog to ip converter without it. The pcb inside is really tiny too easy to shrink it into a smaller form factor.

For anybody wondering; I purchased the above linked DVR. I used it to convert some analogue IP cameras for connection with my Zoneminder system. The rtsp url format is: rtsp://admin:@ipaddr:554/user=admin_password=12345_channel=1_stream=0.sdp?real_stream Note that in the first part of the URL there should be nothing between the : and the @ - this through me initially.

Secure your setup by changing admin password and updating url as appropriate.
