ZM does not record.

Post by RadOD »

ZM does not record when set to record or any other mode.

Logs give following errors:

Any advice on what I have setup wrong? Viewing cameras works fine.

Hi there,

The issue here is that you need to set the sql-mode to NO_SUBSTITUTION in your MySQL configuration file. Specifically, you will want to add this line to the "[mysqld]" section of your configuration file: sql-mode = NO_ENGINE_SUBSTITUTION
For my installation under Ubuntu, for example, it is /etc/mysql/my.conf (as also per the ZoneMinder installation instructions).

Once you've added the line, make sure to stop ZoneMinder (sudo service zoneminder stop), restart MySQL (sudo service mysql restart), and then start ZoneMinder again (sudo service zoneminder start), and you should be good to go! When you restart MySQL, there should be no errors. If there are, you may need to adjust your config in case there is a typo, and try restarting again.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Ben

I installed zoneminder_1.31.9~20171019175743-xenial_i386.deb and set the storage area and fixed some stray directory permissions and I can stream the cameras and see the them. I can not Force and event at all but when set to Modect the active zone(s) will initiate an event recording. What happened to the "Stills" viewer option in the event playback window?
