trying to add first camera

Post by linuxguy4 »

I just installed ZM yesterday and i have been trying to add my sv3c dome cammera. I have tried to do it manually and using the ONVIF search option. ZM is able to find my camera and i can add it. however i dont see any video. i messed around with the function setting and changed it from monitor to several other choices. one of the choices seemed to create an event not sure which. i can see the event in the list when i select the monitor. however i cant review the video. if i click on the monitor then the event, there is a link called stills. if i click stills i get a list of pictures. if i click a still i can see 1 frame so the camera is working on some level. i just seem to be missing something. I am using this as source path rtsp://[username:password]@[my ip]:554/11. i got this from this website. i don't understand the /11 after the port number in the url. any assistance would be appreciated.

Copy and paste is good.

Two common errors:
PATH_ZMS is not set to /zm/cgi-bin/nph-zms
Camera resolution in Zoneminder does not match camera output. Use VLC (Tools, Media Information, Codec) to check camera Display Resolution.

You may not need the port number in your source as rtsp is understood to be port 554. Get the camera to stream in VLC and use that setting in Zoneminder.

i have no idea how to put a url into VLC. i would really like to get this going. i would like to run this over blue iris since zone minder runs on linux. however i was able to get blueiris configured in 5 minutes without any documentation.
