Zm installed without a glitch however Ffmpeg libraries, tho installed, aren't found. I had no problem with this on Ubuntu. What's up eith this?

I had a similar experience with ffmpeg not being found on Suse tumbleweed install. Unfortunately there are other things broken for zoneminder on tumbleweed so I can't help with ffmpeg at the moment. I may try going to leap 15 instead.

OK I have zoneminder (ZoneMinder-1.30.4-3.1.x86_64.rpm) up and running now on Opensuse tumbleweed as of 20180613 Monex release and bug fix (https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1097304).

Unfortunately I'm also having the issue with ffmgeg not being detected by zoneminder. I'm pretty sure all my settings in zm options are correct as I did zm database dump from my working install on Opensuse 42.3 that brought in all settings monitors, zones, etc.

Specifically for ffmpeg in options under Images tab:

- I have checked "OPT_FFMPEG Is the ffmpeg video encoder/decoder installed (?)

- I have correct path under:
PATH_FFMPEG Path to (optional) ffmpeg mpeg encoder (?)
/usr/bin/ffmpeg

- I have ffmpeg installed and tested at /usr/bin/ffmpeg

My ffmpeg package is "ffmpeg-3.4.2-6.2.x86_64.rpm 13-May-2018 18:28" from packman repository @ http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/misc/packm ... ls/x86_64/


Here is the relevant line from my zoneminder log
Is this a bug or do I need to do something special with ffmpeg or its dependencies? I also left a followup comment describing this issue on the bug report above.

Hi,

to use ZoneMinder with support for ffmpeg you need to install the ZoneMinder-MP package from this http://www.liquid-co.de/pub/suse/repositories/15.0/ repository. You also need the ffmpeg packages from the packman repository in order to install the ZoneMinder-MP package.

Can you please verify this and provider more information from where you've installed the packages or if this solved your issue.

Slightly off topic but I went ahead and installed the zoneminder-mp package from here: http://www.liquid-co.de/pub/suse/repositories/15.0/ on my tumbleweed system. I can confirm that it actually works and after doing a sql dump of my zm database from Leap 42.3, and running zmupdate.pl all monitors, setting etc are available.

The only problem now is that I have the issue (Bugzilla – Bug 1097304) that I recently reported (and you patched) for your zoneminder tumbleweed package. If that patch got applied then the zoneminder-mp package for leap 15 it should be good to go on tumbleweed. If there was any way you could get that patched I'd be extremely grateful and happy to test it out.
