Ubuntu version?
Is the OS on the RAID or did you try to set the RAID up for storage in addition to the main HD?

Hey bbunge,

Ubuntu 16.04 LTS on a RAID array (two drives in RAID). I remember that, when I first installed this system Ubuntu I follow step by step guide/ creator LVM.

I have a second server with zoneminder but there in /etc/fstab is slightly different configure.

Below the screenshot from the my second server with zoneminder (working record and have duration events):

Yet another one -- they are coming thick and fast lately :)

"Can't symlink .... Operation not supported."

The error message should have said "Your file system for events seems to suck. Please use a fully featured file system, written with real users in mind, not some poor quality Windows junk."

Seriously, what kind of file system are you trying to write to? I can't see any sign of DOS/FAT fs in your fstab, but you must be using something primitive :) If so, it will not work, you need a *nix based file system that supports symbolic links.

Sure looks like you have a second drive that you are trying to write events on. RAID or not you do not have it set up correctly.

If you are using hardware RAID make sure the RAID card sets up the RAID storage before you install Ubuntu. If you are using software RAID I would recommend wiping the MBR on the drives and starting over with the Ubuntu install with software RAID. Google is your friend for install instructions.

If you are using the two mentioned drives in a RAID for Zoneminder events storage, set the RAID up but do not mount it. See the WIKI for instructions on using systemd to mount "other" drives.

Whatever you do you do not have the events/images folders for Zoneminder mounted correctly.

Maybe you would be better just using LVM and skipping RAID.

Many thanks for reply guys,

It's possible when I was begun start first installation my Ubuntu, maybe I could inadvertently click a button NEXT step in the LVM creator.

At this moment I have just two disks SAS 2,5" in my HP Proliant server. Did I find any quick instructions how i can prepare Ubuntu Server 16.04 specifically for zoneminder? I would ask for advice.

Is RAID or LVM necessary?
