Viewing and recording from the two different signals of a camera

Hi to all,
is it possible to view, on montage or cycle, from sub stream signal but recording from the main stream signal?
If yes, how can I do it, please?

I've just seen someone doing that in a YouTube video last week. He set the low-res camera up as Nodect, and used it to trigger recording on the high-res camera, which was in, I think, None.

I thought it was quite clever.

set up 2 monitors using the same camera...the low res when activated triggers the recording of the hi-res stream...link the 2 monitors to slave the hi-res to the low res...something like that....
